BAGIRA paints people who don’t exist, yet somehow, they feel familiar. Her portraits are imagined, but each one is created to spark recognition, to make their viewers feel seen. Rooted in the richness of mixed cultures and diverse identities, these portraits carry soul, sparking conversations about heritage, belonging, and identity and the in-between , shaped by BAGIRA’s own experience growing up in a householod of different cultures and countries but also the beauty of the diverse nation of Curacao which inspires most of her work and where the artist in her was truly born. Most works feature imagined faces, often brought to life using AI as a tool for representation, celebrating the beauty of culture, age, and diversity and embracing the future of technology at the same time as a ‘traditional’ artist.

In the midst of Algeria’s vast and untamed desert landscapes, the oasis emerges as a sanctuary—unexpected, nourishing, and full of life. Inspired by these serene refuges, “OASIS” is a series of abstract paintings that reflects the balance and peace that I seek in the chaos of everyday life. Each painting is a journey into my own personal sanctuary, a creative retreat where the act of painting becomes a moment of calm and reconnectionthe external circumstances of their life.
BAGIRA doesn’t just paint what she sees, she paints what she feels. Her abstract works are born from deep, instinctive emotion, often channeled through music, memory, and lived experience.
Each piece is a visual echo of a feeling, a moment, or a sound. Some are sparked by specific songs or genres, others by the raw energy of a musician or a nostalgic era that left a mark on her soul.
These works are less about form, and more about frequency, emotional frequencies, vibrating through color and rhythm. These are not planned compositions, they are an instinctive download and movements.
